Who is Charlie Stegent?
Coach Charlie has been a part of the game as a spectator, player, coach’s son and coach. He started playing the game at the age of 5 years old in his home town of Cypress, Tx. As a high school Freshman, Charlie knew he wanted to play ball as long as he could. He put in the work and was allowed to play at Texas State University. Post graduation, Charlie continued to pursue his dream, with several tryouts and prospective offers from the Cincinatti Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates. After an injury that landed him with a hernia operation causing him to hang up the cleats, Charlie turned his focus to family. In 2003, Charlie married his wife of 18 years, Jenn. They were blessed with their first baby in 2005. Then baby number two in 2007 along with baby number three in 2009. Back track one year to 2008 though.. Charlie was now in the role as tball coach, AKA.. Coach Dad! Who knew that he’d still be coaching 12 years later? It would be around 2012-2013 that Charlie would dust off the dirt and give his love of the game as a player one more go, playing in a wood bat league for The Generals. All because of a bet he had made with his team.. If they won their tournament, he would play. They won, he played!
Charlie has always had a vision for teaching the game of baseball, and the life lessons that come with it off the field. Being a player, coach, parent or just all around good person with integrity, character, honesty, loyalty and faith has always been his message to his players and their families. That’s where CHOSEN GENERATION comes in.. We want to help our players gain confidence. We want them to be able to play the game they work so hard to play, for as long as they can. Charlie wants to see the kids go to college. It is our hope and prayer that you reach out and hopefully find a place here with us as, The CHOSEN GENERATION BASEBALL FAMILY!!
